AET Transitions Off Natural Gas With Installation of Cold Climate Heat Pump
KITCHENER, ONTARIO–
AET is pleased to announce that we have completed our head office’s transition off natural gas for all heating with the installation of a cold climate heat pump.
Transitioning off natural gas supports AET’s Net Zero Carbon goal by 2030, AET’s commitment to the United Nations SDG #7 to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy, the CAGBC | Canada Green Building Council‘s Zero Carbon Building Certification, the Region of Waterloo‘s 50by30 community-led campaign, AET’s commitment to Environment and Climate Change Canada‘s Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and AET’s commitment of 100% GHG emission reduction by 2030 with Sustainable Waterloo Region. According to the Canada Energy Regulator, approximately 95% of natural gas is made up of methane, which is the second most important greenhouse gas (GHG) generated by human activity – and the release of GHG’s and their increasing concentrations in the atmosphere are having significant impacts on the environment, human health and the economy. By reducing natural gas consumption we are reducing the amount of methane produced, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping ensure cleaner air, water and food for our generation and for generations to come.
