Larry Freiburger

Director of Operations

Larry Freiburger is Director of Operations at AET Group. Larry joined AET in 2001 and has over 45 years of experience in project management and construction engineering with 20 years experience in solid waste management. Within the waste industry he has extensive experience in feasibility studies, composition studies, recovery facility optimization, public consultation, facilitation and stakeholder engagement. Working with industry, federal, provincial and municipal governments and industry associations, Larry brings technical and analytical expertise in waste characterization, waste assessments, waste minimization and long-term waste management planning. He has completed over 700 waste projects across Canada and has developed waste management and optimization programs for several public and private industries.

Larry is a sought-after speaker on waste having spoken on a variety of topics including Planning & Implementing Your Municipal Waste Audit; Waste Audits Made Easy: Planning and Implementing Your Waste Audit; IC&I Waste Diversion: Obstacles & Opportunities, Implementing an Effective Waste Reduction Program; Recovery and Recycling of Vinyl Waste in the Construction and Demolition Industry; Current Issues and Future Trends in Waste Management; Green Energy Act: Applications for Brownfield’s and Waste; and, Integrated Solid Waste Management: The Myths & Realities.

Larry is a graduate of Construction Engineering Technology from Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology. He is a Certified Energy Advisor with Natural Resources Canada a Certified Environmental Professional with Eco Canada and a LEED Accredited Professional with both the Canada Green Building Council and United States Green Building Council.

Larry volunteers his time with a number of organizations including a past member of the Board of Directors with Ontario Waste Management Association; past Co-Chair of the Environmental Affairs Committee at the Ontario Waste Management Association; member of the Resource Recovery Committee at the Ontario Waste Management Association; Vice Chair Recycling Guideline Working Group at the Ontario Waste Management Association; Executive Board of Directors for Mary-Allen Neighborhood Association at the City of Waterloo; Executive Board of Directors of Solar City Cooperative at the City of Kitchener and Committee Member at CREW. He enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren in the outdoors, camping, hiking and scuba diving.
