Environmental Regulatory Compliance Audits

In accordance with the instructions from The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre, AET undertook the 2012 environmental compliance audit of the following hospitals: Trillium Health Centre – Mississauga Site, Trillium Health Centre – West Toronto Site and Credit Valley Hospital Site. The environmental compliance audit is intended to report on the status of the facilities with respect to current environmental regulations, on the basis of readily available documents and records. The compliance audit includes a brief overview of the background history of the facilities, a site orientation tour and inspection of the hospital and property, record reviews, and interviews with personnel in management, maintenance, shipping/receiving, laboratories and operations. Audit topics included:
- Site Interior and Exterior Inspections
- Air Emissions Management
- Water and Wastewater Management
- Waste Management (Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Solid and Liquid Waste)
- Spill Prevention and Management
- Chemicals/Fuel Storage and Management
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act (TDGA)
- Controlled Substance Management
- WHMIS
- Nuclear Medicine
The deliverable of the project was to provide a written report identifying regulatory non-compliance findings and detailed recommended actions to achieve compliance along with best management practices.
