Carbon Opportunities Assessment
Location: Ontario Canada
Client: Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority
Date: 2014
Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) is responsible for the oversight of land and water management of over 2400 square kilometres of southern Ontario in parts of three counties. Increasing the amount of forest cover in the watershed has been identified as a priority issue by the ABCA. AET Group conducted an assessment of the carbon sequestration potential of existing forest lands and new forest planting projects within the watershed managed by the ABCA. AET Group also reviewed existing and future opportunities for the ABCA to generate additional revenue sources from the carbon sequestration of its managed lands.
This study led to the formation of the Footprints to Forests Program, a local initiative that is designed to generate awareness and funding for increased tree planting projects within the ABCA’s watershed.
