Stephen Boles is Manager of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Sustainability Services at AET Group (AET). Stephen has over 15 years of experience as a scientist and consultant, during which time he has led GHG management and sustainability projects for clients in a range of industry sectors, including multiple Fortune 500 multinationals. Stephen’s areas of expertise include planning and implementation of GHG inventories and reduction projects, verification of GHG emissions and offset projects, life-cycle carbon footprint assessments, sustainability planning and reporting, and assurance of sustainability data indicators. Stephen is the lead instructor of greenhouse gas management courses for the Sustainability Learning Centre.
Stephen has a Master of Science degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Waterloo. Before becoming a consultant, Stephen spent seven years working as a scientist at one of the world’s leading climate change research centers at the University of New Hampshire.
Stephen is a certified Environmental Professional recognized by the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board, an accredited GHG verifier with the California Air Resources Board regulatory GHG reporting program, a Verification Service Provider for the Mining Association of Canada’s Toward Sustainable Mining program, and a Lead Assessor/Technical Expert with the American National Standards Institute’s ISO 14065 accreditation program. Stephen is a member of the international working groups conducting a review and update of the ISO 14064 and 14065 GHG management standards.
Outside of work Stephen is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family on hikes and at the beach. Stephen is an active member of the community that hosts AET Group’s Exeter office as President of the South Huron Chamber of Commerce and Treasurer of the South Huron Minor Soccer Association.
